AbdulRazaq Says He Won’t Disappoint Kwarans
Kwara State Governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has assured kwarans that his administration would not disappoint them.
Abdulrazaq gave this assurance on Tuesday in Abuja during the induction for newly elected and returning governors by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
He has promised to make use of the resolution and ideas shared at the induction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
Kwara Governor-elect who joined other newly-elected and returning governors at the insight loaded programme aimed at preparing them for the realities and challenges of governance was the central attention after his uncommon victory in last month’s general election.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum is the leading assemblage of governors of all the 36 states in Nigeria, sharing common goals and fighting on a common front. At the induction that was graced by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo representing the President.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in his speech, urged states to look into earning more internally generated revenue (IGR) to support the efforts of the federal government and save the states from over reliance on federal allocation.The Vice President who spoke on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, also spoke in his personal capacity.
Professor Osinbajo said President Muhammadu Buhari has made it clear that he will focus on human development in the next four years and urged the states to focus on same to reduce the unemployment level.
The highpoint of the induction was the willingness of some development partners to give grants worth millions of dollars to states if they can meet certain criteria. The criteria, which Kwara State Governor-elect has shown willingness to look into based on the status of the state.
Some of the speakers at the event was the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu who besieged all governors to join hands in fighting corruption which is evil and wrong, coupled with the fact that the only way to get a second term is to work for the people.
The program avail the governors information about the funding arrangement of UBE and counterpart funding, prioritizing out-of-school children and classroom participation by teachers, how to build following in advance and pushing their agenda on social media, optimal usage of ICT to digitalize their states, health facilities and health care insurance schemes, insulating social programmes from politics, security, unemployment and many more.
AbdulRazaq who attended the induction program promised to take a lot into consideration as he is aware of the high hope of Kwarans who gave his party’s candidates now elected the privilege to serve.
