Add Sweetener To New Minimum Wage, Ex-TUC President

Former President of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Peter Esele has urged government to add sweetener such as transport subsidy, healthcare package to new minimum wage.

Peter Esele gave this advice on Sunday while featuring on TVC News program – Journalists Hangout.

He stated that the ongoing minimum wage negotiation should not be limited to cash take-home of workers but other sweeteners to improve their well-being.

According to him, the negotiation about minimum wage should go beyond the cash but encompass other derivatives such as Mass Transit, healthcare among others.

Esele said the ongoing negotiation by tripartite committee needs more give and take to arrive at equilibrium in the interest of workers and Nigera as a whole.
