AFCON 2023: Akpabio, Saliu Mustapha Arrive Ivory Coast To Support Super Eagles

The Nigerian Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has arrived in Ivory Coast to support the Super Eagles as they contend for their fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

The Senate President led a 10-man Senate delegation to Ivory Coast to chear up the Super Eagles. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to virtually monitor the team’s progress.

According to _Soccernet_, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu left Nigeria for Ivory Coast earlier in the morning and arrived successfully in the French-speaking country around 3pm local time.

Also on the enturage are top members of the Senate, including former Senate President, Ahmad Lawal; Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Mustapha Saliu; Senator Solomon Lalung and Senator Ned Nwoko.

Nigeria will tackle Angola in the first AFCON 2023 quarter-final tie on Friday. The three-time AFCON winners will tackle Angola on Friday, February 2, at the 33,000-capacity Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, in the first quarter-final fixture of the competition.
