Baba Idris Awards Scholarship To Four Students in Patigi
A youth advocate and former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Engr. Baba Idris, has awarded scholarships to four students of Patigi Secondary School who came third in the weekly Radio Spelling Bee programme organised by the Kwara State government.
Idris, who announced the scholarship when he visited the students at their school on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, also offered to pay for their forthcoming Junior secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE).
The beneficiary students are Yusuf Ramat (JSS3A), Umar Aisha (JSS 3B), Usman Binta (JSS3A) and Abukakar Saretu.
The former governorship aspirant said he decided to sponsor the students’ education through secondary school to further encourage them to take their studies seriously. He added that his intervention was part of his own ways of giving back to his community and mentoring the younger ones by taking up some of the responsibilities towards their brighter future.
“My intervention programme is an age long humanitarian dream and will not be limited to sponsoring the education of the four students but i will also be providing mentorship for school students within Patigi from where i hailed and later other communities in Kwara state”, he said.
The Vice-Principal of Patigi Secondary School, Mrs Mamman Roseline commended Idris for his gesture, noting that the scholarship programme represents a wise investment in the future of the school children.
