Crystal Place: Kwara Govt Claim of Encroachment is Inaccurate -Management
New facts have emerged on the business complex of Kwara APC stalwart, Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM), which was marked for demolition by the Kwara State Government on Monday.
Evidence from the available documents has invalidated the claim made by the governor’s spokesperson that MM’s business complex located along Sulu Gambari Road, GRA, Ilorin, encroached on government setbacks.
From the building plan which was made available to the media by the Head of Media and Public Relations to Hon. MM, Dr. Opeyemi Aregbesola, it is clear that the business complex was erected based on the Kwara State Government’s approved building plan.
The areas marked in red in the pictorial evidence provided by the government are within the approved land area granted to Mashood Mustapha by the Kwara State Government in 2016. Therefore, the question on the lips of concerned Kwarans is, why did the government approve the building plan if there was truly an encroachment?
According to Dr. Opeyemi, Hon. MM is a progressive-minded individual and a strong advocate of due process.
She said, “MM is not against developmental projects that will give a facelift to the state but the government must obey its approval. The entire land area housing Crystal Place was duly approved by the Kwara State Government, so, the claim of encroachment is inaccurate.”
Based on the available evidence, there seems to be a hidden agenda behind the proposed demolition of a section of Crystal Place by the Kwara State Government. The last has not been heard on this issue.
