Currency Swap: Oloriegbe Implores Constituents To Remain Calm
The Senator representing Kwara Central , Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has, amid the uproars trailing the currencies swap going on across the country, particularly in some areas within the Ilorin metropolis, appealed to the indigenes and residents of his constituency to remain calm and peaceful pending the favourable resolutions to address the hardship.
Senator Oloriegbe made the call on Wednesday in a statement through his media aide, Bolaji Aladie, assuring that all hands are on deck to ensure that normalcy is restored as soon as possible to protect the livelihoods of the masses which have been grounded since the policy was declared.
The statement read:
“I feel concerned as a leader and member of the community to appeal to the people of Nigeria, particularly, members of my constituency to remain peaceful and unprovoked pending the time the government will be able to restore normalcy in response to the debilitating effects of the currencies swap.
“The policy, albeit being well-intentioned, is leaving much to desire due to poor implementation by the concerned authorities, as such, the majority of Nigerians have been left in anguishes and frustrations which are getting out of control presently.
“The protests and venting of anger by our people as demonstrated today within some areas in the Ilorin metropolis and other places are justifiable, however, we must not lose our sanity while fighting a just cause. We must refrain from destroying individuals and government properties to show our displeasure, doing so, would leave us with nothing, but more losses which can be avoided if we consider the importance of peace. We should not forget that our community is known for peace and harmony, we must uphold jealously that enviable value.
“I want to assure you that, we your representatives at the National Assembly are leaving no stone unturned. We are with you. We share in your pain. And, we are doing everything lawful and necessary with other stakeholders to ensure that we win this together and smile very soon together.
