Customs Donates Food Items, Others To Kwara Social Development Ministry
Nigeria Customs Service on Thursday donated relief materials to Kwara State Ministry of Social Development to support vulnerable persons in the society.
The Customs Area Comptroller of Kwara Command, Compt Femi Ojeifo disclosed this on Thursday while briefing newsmen at Command Headquarters, Ilorin.
His words: “In a follow up to the Honorable Commissioner’s recent visit to Kwara Command, I am honored to stand before you today to present these relief materials on behalf of Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR to the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development.

“The items we are donating today are cartons of Indomie noodles, spaghetti, sugar, toilet paper, Semolina, Cartons of tin and sachets milk all aimed at providing relieve, comfort, support, and hope to those who have been affected by specific crisis or challenges.
We are aware that the ministry is not a revenue generating ministry and only benefits from monthly allocations from the Kwara State Government and that is why we are recognizing the tireless efforts of the ministry in serving the less privileged, the vulnerable and the disabled in the society.”
The command also empowered 67 members of the Customs Officers Wives Association, (COWA) with sewing machines, baking ovens, and makeup kits.
Showcasing their achievements, Ojiefu announced that it collected and remitted N10.027 billion between January and May 2024.
He also reported 21 seizures of prohibited items, including 507 bags of foreign rice, used vehicles, and petroleum products.
Kwara State Commissioners for Social Development, and Women Affairs appreciated the Customs for their support and empowerment of women.
They urged the beneficiaries to utilize the empowerment gadgets judiciously.
COWA PRO, Mr. Florence Anyameluhor who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries commended the gesture.
The event was attended by the officials of Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, management and sectional/unit heads of the Command, representatives of ITC and Sanica Beverages, among others.
