Dr Adekunle Adebowale Emerges Kwara CDHR Chairman

Dr. Adekunle Adebowale has emerged Kwara State Chairman of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR)

Dr Adebowale emerged at the 2025 CDHR Annual Convention and Election held at NLC Secretariat Hall, Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Other executives are Yusuf Musa Olohundare (Vice Chairman), Kemi Tina Omiyale (Treasurer), Adeyemi Julius Ogunwuyi (Internal Auditor, Taofik Adekunle Jimoh (Publicity Secretary),  Olasunkanmi Dauda Iwaloye (State Secretary), Sulaiman Tawakalitu (Assistant Secretary) and
Ridwan Musa, Esq (Legal Adviser).

Dr. Adekunle Adebowale, born on April 30, 1959, hails from Moya via Lanwa in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He is a distinguished scholar, seasoned administrator, and public intellectual with enduring contributions to education, public service, and political discourse in Nigeria.

He is a retired Director of Education at the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), where he served with distinction, mentoring generations of educators and shaping education policy in the state.

Currently, Dr. Adebowale continues to contribute to academia as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Political Science at both the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, and the Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi, where he teaches in the sandwich degree programme.

His academic journey is marked by excellence: B.Sc. (Ed) in Political Science (Second Class Upper Division), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria – 1996; Master in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD), University of Lagos (UNILAG) – 1999; M.Sc. in Political Science, ABU Zaria – 2000; and Ph.D. in Political Science, UNILAG – 2014

Dr. Adebowale’s intellectual engagements transcend the classroom. He is a respected columnist, with regular contributions to both the National Pilot Newspaper and The Herald Newspaper, where he analyzes political developments, governance, and public policy. He is also a member of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), reflecting his active role in the media and public enlightenment space.

Beyond academia and writing, Dr. Adebowale has served in several other distinguished capacities: Member, Special Marshal Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC); Match Commissioner, Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Nigeria Football Federation (NFF); Chief Examiner, National Teachers Institute (NTI) for both BDP and PGDP programmes

Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP) – a pilgrimage he undertook under the auspices of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) in 2012
