Ebonyi South Bye-election: Minister’s Brother Loses APC Primary Election

The brother of Minister of Works, Austin Umahi has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election for Ebonyi South Senatorial District bye-election.

A professor of Agricultural Extension Administration at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Anthony Okorie on Saturday defeated Austin Umahi.

APC Primary Election Returning Officer, Dr Akin Awodeyi Akinsehinwe, the returning officer while announcing the result at Afikpo, says Prof Okorie polled 281 votes out of 285 accredited voters.

Ebonyi South’s senatorial bye-election came due to the resignation of Sen. David Umahi, a former state governor, from the Senate to serve as Minister of Work.
