Election Monitoring: Conscientious Youth Foundation Receives Pep talk From INEC Official

As part of preparation for 2023 general elections, the Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation (CYEF) members on Tuesday received pep talk from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on election monitoring.

The Pep talk delivered by Mr. Abdulkadir Bolaji Ibrahim from INEC Office in Kwara held alongside Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation annual team hangout at Our Garden, Ilorin.

Abdulkadir Bolaji Ibrahim explained the roles and responsibilities observers  before, during and after elections.

He implored the Foundation comply with international best practices in election monitoring, noting observers should not be partisan.

“There is more to be done, now is not the time to relax or relent as an organization. Although without mincing words, I must commend the good works of this organization. This NGO has been able to achieve what many of its kind have thrived to achieve for years.” He added

Mr. Abdulkadir used the opportunity to appreciate CYEF for supporting INEC Voter’s education with frequent appearance on weekly radio show- Youth Parliament.

Responding to question raised by one of the team members, Mr. Oyewale Oyelola, the INEC Official said the Commission in partnership with security agencies would provide adequate security in every polling unit.

Earlier, CYEY Program Officer, Mr. Kehinde Akinsola said the team hangout  is a way of appreciating members/ volunteers for successes recorded in 2022 and brain storm on how to improve service delivery in the new year, especially as election year in the country.

CYEF Executive-Director, Comrade George Oyeyiola in his remarks commended Mr Abdulkadir and INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kwara for their unrelenting support.

Oyeyiola said the foundation will contribute to engage stakeholders to improve participation in election process and guide against vote buying in forthcoming polls.

While speaking publicity of CYEF, the Head of News and Current Affairs DaimondFM, Mr Taiwo Adediran says the role of media in electioneering process cannot be overemphasized.
