FG Inaugurates State Committees for National Youth Conference
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has officially inaugurated State Technical Committees (STCs) for the National Youth Conference, marking a pivotal step in advancing youth inclusion and policy influence nationwide.
During the virtual inauguration, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele, emphasized the conference’s transformative potential, stating, “This is not just another event; it is a national movement to give young people a seat at the table.”
He highlighted the STCs’ mandate to facilitate grassroots consultations across all 36 states and the FCT, ensuring representation for women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups.
The Minister outlined five guiding principles; inclusion, participation, evidence-based outcomes, decentralization, and accountability, to shape the committees’ work, culminating in a National Agenda to inform federal policies.
Permanent Secretary Olubunmi Olusanya charged members with fostering transparency and inclusivity, urging them to carry all stakeholders along. Key milestones include constituency dialogues, zonal meetings, and a final policy blueprint for President’s review.
The conference aims to bridge the gap between leadership and Nigeria’s next generation, with outcomes tracked through a Confab Impact Index.
