Global Africa Girls Initiatives Organises Workshop in Ekiti

A non governmental organization, the Global Africa Girls Initiatives in bid to empower and enhance capacity of girl child organised 1-day Personal Development and Strategic Planning Workshop.

The Annual Workshop in partnership with the Young African Leaders Initiatives, Our Speak up Foundation and SarafaDi Foundation held at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti on September 13, 2023 attracts wide range of Speakers.

The Keynote Speaker, Miss Chika Nwoka while speaking on the topic: Breaking the stereotypes, says Participants need to work hard and develop their capacity to rise above all stereotypes imposed on women by the society.

Miss Chika Nwoka charged participants to pursue their dreams fearlessly and acquire requisition knowledge, skills as well as experience to make impact in the society.

While highlighting achievements of noted that influential women making waves in Africa and the world, she noted they all reach the enviable height by nurturing their dreams, building right network and setting achievements goals.

A gender right activist and coach, Mr. Abdurasak Maruf who spoke on advocacy and gender equality shared invaluable knowledge on advocacy and activism.

Mr Abdulrazak highlighted the importance of advocating for the rights and well-being of girls worldwide.

He therefore urged participants to become agents of change in their communities through activism and involvement in community development.

Earlier, the founder, Global Africa Girls Initiatives, Miss Bello Sophiath highlighted the importance of empowering African girls to become powerful women in the society and to help them position themselves in the global market.

Bello emphasized the need to reorientate girls and transform them into formidable individuals, emphasizing that their background should not limit their potential and encouraged them to embrace their role as the guiding light of Africa.

She also discussed the influential role women play in shaping decisions made by men and society as a whole.

The founder stressed the importance of personal development and empowerment in liberating the next generation. She therefore implored organizations and individuals to support GAGI to do more for the society.

Cross section of participants

Highlight of program attended by 97 participants was the breakout sessions, where attendees were divided into groups of six based on their interests.

Each group focused on different subjects such as leadership, career and professional development, gender-based violence, community development service, financial literacy and independence, and digital literacy.

At end of the breakout sessions, each group made presentations showcasing the knowledge they gained with the support of their facilitator.

Participants also received certificate of participation from the Global Africa Girls Initiatives.
