Governor Abdulrazaq Sends Fresh Freedom of Information Bill to Kwara Assembly

Six years after technically killing Freedom of Information Bill domestication passed by 8th Kwara State House of Assembly, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sent fresh bill to the Assembly.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu read the bill on Tuesday during plenary.
According to Danladi, Governor Abdulrazaq forwarded Kwara State Freedom of Information Bill, 2025 to the Assembly for Legislative consideration.
The Bill was thereafter referred to the Business and Rules Committee to schedule it for First Reading as appropriate.
Recall that Governor Abdulrazaq few days after taking over as Governor returned FOI domestication bill Danladi led Assembly for minors corrections.
FactualTimes reports that the Assembly refused to take action on the bill for four years amidst agitation by Civil Society Organisations and Kwarans.
This latest action follows Supreme Court ruled that the Freedom of Information Act signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan is applicable to all states in Nigeria.
