Governor Ganduje Second Coming, A Blessing For Kano State

Last week coalition of concerned people in Kano state purchased All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to enable him seek for second term in office.
The coalition’s decision according to their spokesman was to allow the governor to continue his good works and deliver more dividends of democracy to the populace.
Majority of Kano residents also shared the same sentiment with the groups because governor Ganduje has raised the bar of governance and implemented numerous infrastructural development projects.
The governor apart from completion projects abandoned by his previous administration, has commenced new projects to position Kano as megacity. The Dangi Flyover bridge is one of such projects, the state government has earmarked billions of naira for the bridge despite the drop in monthly allocation from FAAC. Similarly, Ganduje’s administration also introduced rural development programme to facilitate construction of rural roads across the state.
Furthermore, Governor Ganduje has repositioned financial management of the state with establishment of Kano state Internal Revenue Service, adoption of Treasury Single Account (TSA) and revamping of Anti-Corruption Unit in Office of the governor. All these have helped the state government to block leakage, eliminate sharp practices in tax collection and project execution.
Consequently, the state government now has the capacity to create more jobs, pay salaries/pensions promptly, invest huge funds in infrastructural development, provide quality health services, build new mega schools/ new classrooms in existing schools and revamp the agricultural sector which has
resulted into consistent bumper harvest  among others.
In education, Ganduje’s led administration has increased annual budget in order to uplift standard education in the state. Besides the building of classrooms, government also equipped the schools with instructional materials to aiding learning and prioritize training of teachers. The state government as part of its efforts to provide quality education to pupils enrolled over 20,000 unqualified teachers in higher institutions to get necessary certificate.
While the state owned higher institutions are receiving subvention from the state government as at when due and this allow the institutions to run smoothly as well as get regulatory bodies to accredit/re-accredit their courses. Governor Ganduje in his bid to promote mass literacy engaged over 500 facilitators to teach interested people in adult education centres across the state. Likewise, kano state is paying about N1billion annually as tuition and stipends for indigenes studying abroad. Recently, the state offered scholarship to 10 PHD researchers who are lecturers of stated owned institutions.
Similarly, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other development partners have commended Governor Ganduje for investing in health sector. It’s to the governor’s credit that no case of Polio has been recorded in Kano state since commencement of his administration. The state government also intensified efforts to eliminate tuberculosis and other communicable diseases in bid to promote healthy living among people of the state. Earlier in the year, President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned ultra modern hospital built and equipped by Ganduje’s administration.
Aside that, his administration is working round the clock to provide potable water to residents by building more waterworks. The state government recently signed multi billion naira water project with federal government to address issue of scarcity of water.
Additionally, the astute administrator has empowered over 200,000 youths and women through different empowerment programmes. The programmes have made beneficiaries to be self reliant, reduce unemployment, contribute to economy development, enhance security and reduce social vices in the state.
Frankly speaking, the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje are too numerous to mention, too many to overlook and it’s impactful for people to feel. The governor has implemented projects in all the 44 local government areas and wards in the state. Without doubt the governor has prove to be a purposeful leader with a clear vision to fast track development of Kano state through implementation of all inclusiveness programmes/policies.
Therefore, having a leader like Ganduje who has the interest of populace at heart without doubt  will definitely be a blessing to Kano state, if elected once again.
