Governor Inuwa Attends Funeral of Gombe LG Chairman
Governor Inuwa Yahaya on Friday led government delegation to the funeral prayer ( Janaza) of the late Caretaker Chairman of Gombe Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Usman Haruna who died on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt.
The Funeral prayer was held at the Bubayero Juma’at Mosque, Emir’s Palace Gombe.
Governor Inuwa, alongside the Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Luggerewo, Secretary to the State Government, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Commissioners among other top government functionaries accompanied the remains of the deceased to its final resting place at the Muslim graveyard along Bajoga road, Gombe.
Speaking shortly after the deceased was laid to rest, Governor Inuwa described the late Aliyu as an upright person who lived an exemplary life committed to community service, adding that the loss is for the entire people of Gombe State and beyond.
“This loss is not for his family alone, it is for the entire people of Gombe State and beyond. We therefore commiserate with the entire people of Gombe State, especially his family for this great loss. We pray Allah the Almighty to grant the him Jannatul Firdaus and give the bereaved family fortitude to bear the loss”, the governor said.
Top-notch politicians, traditional rulers, community leaders and hundreds of Muslims from across various places attended the Janaza.
Some of the sympathizers paid tribute to the late Chairman, commending the great legacies and community services “he rendered during his lifetime to include building of schools, support to orphans and less privileged among others most of which only became known to the public after his death”.
Recall that, upon receiving the sad news, Governor Inuwa issued an official statement expressing his profound shock heartfelt condolences over the great loss. The governor subsequently visited the bereaved family where he sympathized with them over the sad event.
