Honour Outstanding CELF Fellow With One-day Governor Seat, SDG Ambassador Urges Kwara Govt
The Executive Director of Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), Mr. Olasupo Abideen, has called on the Kwara State Government to initiate a “One-Day Governor” tradition to honour the young Kwarans who are currently undergoing in-depth camping activities at the Countryside Emerging Leaders Fellowship (CELF) in Ilorin.
Mr Olasupo, who made the call during his presentation at the ongoing CELF 3.0 on Tuesday, said the tradition, if initiated, would go along a way in preparing the fellows who had undergone sophisticated training and acquired entrepreneurship skills, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for leadership roles.
According to him: “I am glad to be part of this year’s edition of Countryside Emerging Leaders Fellowship (CELF). As it stands, CELF is the only platform that is designed by an NGO in Kwara State to introduce secondary school leavers, who are bright but from rural communities, to sophisticated learning and entrepreneurial skills. The training, no doubt, will give them an advantage to compete alongside others in the urban communities and even at the international communities.
“This intervention, which is organised by Hashim Institute for Community Advancement (HICA), is a laudable one. I enjoin the Kwara State Government to create a ceremonial investiture of “One-Day Governor” in addition to the scholarships and other prizes being awarded to the outstanding fellows so as to further motivate young people in the State”, Olasupo said.
