How Kayode Fayemi Edges Out el-Rufai To Become NGF Chairman

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Wednesday emerged as the new Chairman for Nigeria Governor s’ Forum

Although, Dr. Kayode Fayemi was elected unopposed during NGF meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday but Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai reportedly signifies interest to lead the forum of 36 governors.

Our correspondent reports the Ekiti State Governor had secured endorsement of majority of his colleagues including block of PDP governors.

Therefore, it was difficult for el-Rufai to convince his colleagues to support him.

Some political watchers said the 2023 presidential ambition of the Kaduna state governor also worked against him.

Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has emerged as the Vice Chairman and they will lead the forum till 2021.

FactualTimes reports that outgoing NGF Chairman and Zamfara State Governor served two terms from June 2015.
