Ijesa Indigenes in Texas Re-elect Wuraola

The Egbe Omo Obokun of Ijesaland, Houston chapter, USA has reelected Mrs Wuraola Helen Abiodun as  President unopposed.

Mrs Wuraola emerged 8th President during the event held on Saturday. Other elected members of executive council of the Association include Gbenga Ekundare as Vice President, David Adebayo as General Secretary, Busuyi Johnson as Assistant General Secretary, Johnson Ogedengbe as Treasurer, Yomi Thomas as Financial Secretary, Oluwakayode Adelowokan as the Public Relations Officer in-charge of media and publicity, and Olusola Otunaike as the Public Relations Officer for General Duties. The lineup further features Adeniran Adeoye as Social Secretary, Yemisi Aofolaju as Assistant Social Secretary, Babatunde Peters as Welfare Secretary, Bolaji Allen as Assistant Welfare Secretary, and Oluwaseun Alaba as the Chief Whip of the Association.

Thanking the members for her re-election, Mrs Abiodun, said: “Being elected for the 2nd time unopposed gave me a sense of responsibility to do more. I am glad that I have the privilege to continue the good work and I thank the association for the trust they have in me and the love and support they have over the years.”

Looking forward to the next two years of her tenure; she said, “My focus is to continue the good deeds, raise more funds to complete our baby project, Ijesa House. Bring more recognition to the association locally and globally and do more community outreach in Houston and surrounding areas.”

The 8th President of the Egbe Omo Obokun of Ijesaland, Houston Chapter, also promised to reach out to people back home and support local projects, visit motherless homes, hospitals, schools, rural areas.

Mrs. Abiodun, however, called on the newly executive members to always remember that the vote given to them by members is a call to serve and that they’ve got work to do. “We are the image of the association, and we must do the duty wholeheartedly. We can’t be distracted.” She added.

“We must work together as a team, each member of the executive should act well their part and make sure there is no lapse in each office, a win for one is a win for all. Our decision should only be based on the interest of the association and not a selfish interest.”
In the spirit of unity, the President implored members to foster unification and forge indomitable bonds within the association.
