IPI Writes Nigeria’s Information Minister, Tasks Him on Press Freedom

The International Press Institute (IPI) has tasked the new Minister of Information in Nigeria, Mallam Idris Mohammed on promoting of press freedom of Media independence.
The IPI Executive Director, Frane Maroević made this call in a congratulatory message addressed to the Minister during the weekend.
Maroević described the appointment of Blueprint Newspaper Publisher as a reflection of the trust and confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has in in his abilities to head the strategic ministry.
His words: “On behalf of the International Press Institute, it is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest congratulations to you on your recent appointment as the Minister of Information for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Your elevation to this important role is not only a testament to your exceptional dedication and hard work but also a reflection of the trust and confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has in your abilities.”.
He noted the International Press Institute are proud to have one of their member as Minister in Nigeria.
According to him, Your extensive experience and profound understanding of the media sector in Nigeria, intricacies of communication and information technologies make you an excellent choice for this crucial position. As a highly respected expert and dedicated IPI member , we look to your leadership in bringing forth positive changes and innovative strategies that will strengthen independent media and enhance the dissemination of accurate and timely information to the citizens of Nigeria.
He expressed the readiness of IPI, the global body promoting press freedom to support and offer assistance in any way possible on Idris’s new and exciting chapter in public service career.
