Kano Govt Empowers 3,745 GSM Technicians With N200 million

Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has sponsored the training of 3, 745 youths on GSM repairs with over N200 million.

Ganduje, while speaking during the sent-fort and distribution of tools with cash to the trainees at Sani Abacha Indoor Sports Hall said his administration has trained and empowered over 700, 000 youths in the last three and half years.

According to him, before the end of his first tenure by May next year, his administration would have empowered over one million youths.

He stated that, “today marks another milestone in our policy on the implementation of job creation avenues for youth across the state to enable the beneficiaries break new grounds in their quest for financial freedom and job security.

“With the GSM revolution in the country’s Information Technology compliance level; with the predominance of these IT gadgets, therefore the need to have competent skilful personnel to fix the problems that usually arise from the equipment increased,” Ganduje stated.

Ganduje further noted that, “with the training, government intends to offer similar opportunities to the teeming youths to enable them acquire the skills and have the tools they require to set up their own workshops or continue with their own businesses and support themselves and move forward.”

He advised the GSM technicians to continue to enrich their knowledge on the GSM repairs, adding that there was need for them to delve into ICT skills until they become experts and employers of labour.

Ganduje further stated that, “it is our belief that empowering more youths will reduce poverty by stimulating income generation and wealth creation; because positive contribution of the youths enable a community to develop while negative activities impact negatively on the socio-economic advancement of the society.”

He promised that his government would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to train more youths in line with his administration’s empowerment policy.

According to him, “today, we are creating 3745 jobs in Kano state. If you are aware, you are all engineers, engineers who have already shown enough interest on the repairs of GSM.

“Are you engineers of GSM? Have we succeeded in training you? Have we succeeded in impacting on you the skills for the repairs of GSM? Are you ready to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari? Are you ready to vote him again? We thank you and we promise you we shall continue with this empowerment programme.

“Our empowerment does not end in training you, we have purchased for you equipment and tools for the repair of GSM, costing N36, 000. And also, we are giving you N10, 000 for transportation. We are giving you a total of N46, 000.

“All together, we are spending over N200 million in order to ensure that you are fully employed. Are you grateful to Allah for this empowerment? Are you ready to vote Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari for President? We thank you for wholeheartedly accepting to vote for President Buhari again.

“We advise you, do not fail us in this empowerment tools that we are giving you. We are giving you these tools so that you improve your skills in GSM repairs and also fend for yourselves and people around you.

“I promise you in due course, we shall create a special market for the repairs of GSM in Kano state. We want to do this to attract, from all over the country, those who will like to learn how to repair GSM so that they can come to Kano in order to learn how to tap from your knowledge.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Governments, Murtala Sule Garo, assured that such empowerment programmes would continue to be implemented by the administration, stressing that, “our effort in this government is geared towards human development. We believe that man is the centre of development.”

He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate through making good use of their working tools and maintaining same to become self-reliant. Adding that, “Our administration is always ready to develop our youth for a better tomorrow.”

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Information, Youths and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba, advised the beneficiaries to understand and appreciate what government is doing to better their life.

Malam Garba, however, assured that, youths in the state have vowed to ensure the re-election bid of Governor Ganduje and President Muhammadu Buhari.

Our correspont reports that the GSM technicians underwent a four-day training workshop that was organized by the state government and facilitated by Baube IT Solution Ltd.

The beneficiaries were selected from the 22 GSM markets across the state.
