Kunle Adegboye Selfish Agenda Threatens APC Offa Unity

By Fatai Olowolagba (Shawo South West)

Yesterday, after reading a press statement attributed to the Offa APC party chairman, Kunle Adegboye, alleging Senator Ashiru’s non-contribution to the party secretariat.

This allegation prompted me to investigate further, seeking answers about party’s rent and the circumstances surrounding the secretariat’s lockout to hinder the the stakeholders meeting conveyed by Hon Seun Oguniyi and Hon. Yusuf Gbenga, the two Kwara State House of Assembly members from Offa.

To set the record straight, It is pertinent for the general public not to be swayed by Kunle Adegboye’s assertions driven by personal agenda, animosity and retrogressive mindset.

The late landlord of the property was a close friend of Senator Ashiru’s late father, specifically instructed his children to lease the property exclusively for Senator Ashiru’s electoral endeavours.

The senator has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the party’s growth, carrying out several renovations at the secretariat, which includes roof repairs and door fixes, procurement of furnitures in the secretariat and modern furnishing of the conference hall, and providing a vehicle to enhance the party chairman’s mobility.

It is worthy to state that, the senator has been paying for the rent of the secretariat, since the days of Late Hassan Salami as the chairman of the party and Kunle Adegboye as the PRO. These were the days when the senator Ashiru was fiercely on the opposing side of the State Government.

However, about three years ago, party stakeholders agreed that the secretariat’s rent and maintenance should be shared among all elected officials and appointees. Despite this, Senator Ashiru has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the party

Recently, a stakeholder meeting, convened by the two Kwara State House of Assembly Members from Offa, Hon JK and Hon. Seun Oguniyi, was thwarted due to the secretariat being locked with police presence.

Demonstrating wisdom and strategic foresight, the people chose to prioritize the greater good. The stakeholders and Assembly members showed remarkable maturity by relocating the meeting to ODU Hall, showcasing their ability to adapt and focus on key objectives.

At the Stakeholders meeting, Senator Ashiru reiterates that whenever a stakeholder meeting is called at his instance, no one can hinder its proceedings.

However, one wonders if the secretariat has become an avenue to swindle innocent aspirants as evidenced by the selective invitation of party members to receive a gubernatorial aspirants two weeks ago, which led him to deny other members of the party access to the secretariat.

Kunle Adegboye’s reckless pursuit of self-interest threatens to destabilize the party. His actions are a gross dereliction of duty. Party politics demands devotion, not exploitation and we demand he cease fanning the flames of disunity. As the chairman, he has a duty to serve the party, not his personal agenda. His actions should be guided by fairness, justice and the well being of all members, not self aggrandizement.

We therefore urge Kunle Adegboye to stop fanning embers of disunity in the party and against actions that could undermine party cohesion and instead encourage him to work towards unity and development of the party. The party’s progress depends on leaders who prioritize collective interests over personal gains.
