Kwara 2023: APC Stalwarts Decamp To PDP, Insist on Zoning

As part of ongoing political realignment ahead of 2023 general elections, some stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Sunday decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The ruling APC Stalwarts that defected to PDP with thousands of their supporters in Kaiama include former Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Abubakar Shukababa, Special Adviser on Political Matters to Minister of State for Transport, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Wure and former Vice Chairman of Kaiama local government.

Former Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abubakar Shukababa who led the decampees said the political realignment to support 2023 Kwara North governorship agenda.

Shukababa said: “I have decided to dump APC and align with PDP under former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki because the party has demonstrated strong passion for Kwara North people with the Zoning of Gubernatorial slot to our region. This is what i have been telling them in APC but the Governor refused to listen because of desperation for second term , this is against the spirit of harmony that binds Kwara state together”

He disclosed that they decline series of plea from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq not to leave the polarized Kwara APC.

Former Minister of Transport, Bio Ibrahim, Hon Bawa and other governorship aspirants from Kwara North senatorial district as well as PDP leaders attended the event.

Our Correspondent gathered that a former commissioner in Governor Abdulrazaq’s administration will also declare for PDP during the week.
