Kwara 2027: One Kwara Agenda Makes Case For Merit-based Leadership, Launches Media Campaigns
A Civic Advocacy Group, One Kwara Agenda(OKA) has advocated for merit-based leadership ahead of 2027 general elections.
The Convener of One Kwara Agenda, Femi Adetola stated this on Tuesday while launching the group at NUJ Press Centre in Ilorin.
According to him, Kwara, a state that once proudly bore the torch of unity and peaceful coexistence is now battling with fissures — drawn along ethnic, religious, and regional lines. It is against this backdrop that we unveil the One Kwara Agenda, a people-centered platform dedicated to rekindling the ideals here-above stated.

Adetola said the group comprises professionals, students, market women, clerics, elders, and youths, noting that they are neither enemies of any region nor agents of any political party.
His words: “The One Kwara Agenda is a civic advocacy and engagement platform committed to fostering a united, indissoluble, and indivisible Kwara State. Rooted in the belief that the formation of Kwara was not a historical coincidence, but a divine design.
“The One Kwara Agenda stands to remind all Kwarans that what unites us is far stronger and nobler than the forces seeking to divide us. At its core, the O.K.A is a response to the rising tides of divisive politics, ethnic profiling, and regional power blocs that have reduced merit to the background and exalted mediocrity through the backdoor of sectional sentiment.
“We believe that no matter where you’re from (whether from the north, south or central), or the religion you profess or even your pedigree, lineage or ancestry, as long as you’re sound, healthy, able and capable, you should be free to aspire to position of leadership at any level in the state without let or hindrances.”
The Convener said Kwarans need to embrace merit-based leadership that prioritizes service delivery over sectional appeasement.
He urged the citizens to discourage divisive political rhetorics that pit one region or group against another.
He explained that the group will commence civic engagements through town hall meetings, press conferences, community dialogues, and campus events to promote unity consciousness.
