Kwara Governor Allegedly Mulls Demolition of Mashood Mustapha’s Crystal House Annex
The fallout between Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and APC chieftain, Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM) seems to have reached a crescendo with the proposed demolition of Crystal House annex by Kwara State Government.
This medium gathered that the governor has threatened to bring down the uncompleted Crystal House annex and other properties owned by Mashood Mustapha for publicly humiliating him and for dragging his government to court over Breach of Contract in the Kwara Hotel concession agreement.
When contacted to confirm the authenticity of the information, the Head of Media and Public Relations to MM, Dr. Opeyemi Aregbesola said Crystal Group has not received any official notice of demolition from the Kwara State Government.
She stated, “I can’t confirm nor deny the report because in today’s Kwara, the government does not play by the book. For now, Crystal Group has not received any official notice for demolition. However, we are not worried because we have the necessary approvals from this administration, and the building is not standing on government setbacks. But if the government decides to bring down the building to score political points, they should go ahead. Kwarans are watching, and for every action, there is certainly going to be a reaction.
“Hon. Mashood Mustapha is not a coward. No amount of political witch-hunt will stop him from speaking up when things are being done the wrong way.”
An ally of the governor who prefers not to be named said the governor seldom shares his plans with his close allies but he doubts if he would proceed to demolish MM’s property knowing the impact that would have on his government.
From all indications, the proposed demolition has not been finalized, but the coming days promise to be interesting.
