Kwara Govt Awards 24 Road Projects in 2025
Kwara State Government has awarded contract for construction of 24 new road projects across the state in first quarter of 2025.
Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo disclosed this on Monday at the Q1 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing, held at the Conference Room of the Finance Ministry, in Ilorin.
Olododo explained that 46 projects were ongoing as at the last quarter of 2024, out of which 33 have been fully completed, with 11 projects currently ongoing into the new quarter, adding that 6 out of 24 roads awarded in 2025 already completed.
According to him, one of it is the ongoing construction work of Agbamu–Ila-Orangun road, a vital inter-state route, aimed at stimulating economic activity which enhances access between Kwara and Osun States.
Olododo further disclosed that road projects previously delayed due to variation in costs would soon resume, as the issues have now been resolved, assuring residents of continued progress on the newly awarded GRA roads within the Ilorin metropolis and other critical routes across the state.
on RAAMP, he said ongoing 209.77km rural roads has earned the state two national awards—Best in Counterpart Funding and Best in Overall Disbursement—underscoring government’s efficiency and accountability.
Engr. Olododo lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership that; “these attainments, no doubt, reflect His Excellency’s unwavering commitments to equitable development, infrastructural transformation and a balanced Rural-Urban development across the State.”
He also announced the construction of a 70-meter flagpole, the tallest in West Africa, on the iconic Wahab Folawiyo Unity Road. He described the initiative as symbolic of Kwara’s rising prominence and pride.
