Kwara North Agenda: Moro LGA’s Quest for Equity Gains Momentum
The call for equity, fairness, and inclusivity within the Kwara North Senatorial District has gained renewed momentum following a passionate appeal by the State Coordinator of Kwara Must Change (KMC), Seko Jibril Gure. He urged political stakeholders to prioritize addressing Moro Local Government Area’s (LGA) decades-long exclusion from key political positions as a critical step toward fulfilling the district’s broader demand for the governorship of Kwara State.
In a strongly worded statement, Gure highlighted the systemic marginalization of Moro LGA despite its status as the senatorial headquarters of Kwara North. While the other four LGAs in the district have shared key National Assembly seats — Senate and House of Representatives — Moro has remained sidelined, often dismissed on the basis of minority status. Gure described this exclusion as a glaring contradiction to the principles of equity and fairness championed by Kwara North at the state level.
“The marginalization of Moro LGA weakens our collective strength and undermines the credibility of our demands for equity,” Gure said. “How can we seek fairness from others while failing to practice it ourselves? Moro’s people are hardworking, resourceful, and committed to the progress of Kwara North. They deserve their rightful place in political representation.”
Gure emphasized the need for internal reflection, stating that justice and inclusivity must begin within. He urged political leaders in Kwara North to correct historical imbalances by including Moro in the rotation of National Assembly seats. He framed this as both a moral obligation and a strategic necessity to unify the district and bolster its push for the governorship.
“The Kwara North project cannot succeed if it continues to marginalize one of its own,” he added.
Calling for immediate action, Gure asserted that inclusivity would foster unity and strengthen the district’s political influence. “Equity must begin from home. A just Kwara North is the foundation for a prosperous Kwara State. The time for change is now,” he concluded.
Gure’s position is already stirring political discourse in Kwara North, with many analysts predicting that his advocacy could reshape the district’s political strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections. His call for Moro’s inclusion is expected to ignite critical conversations on internal equity and broaden the debate on political inclusiveness statewide.
