Kwara South Stakeholders Release Communique of Oro Meeting, Reaffirm Stance on Guber Zoning

Kwara South Leaders' Roundtable Political leaders from Kwara South Senatorial District have reaffirmed their commitment to unity and inclusiveness in Kwara politics, declaring that the zone will only support a pan-Kwara governorship candidate in 2027—one who embodies capacity, competence, and a unifying spirit.

This position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Kwara South Leaders’ Roundtable, held on Saturday, 13th September, 2025, at Gbenab Executive Hotel, Oro, Kwara State. The gathering drew over 400 participants, including political leaders, community stakeholders, elder statesmen, elected representatives, appointed officials, youth, and women leaders from all seven local government areas of the district.

The Roundtable, convened to address pressing social, political, and economic issues, resolved to chart a collective path for peace, inclusive development, and effective political representation for the people of Kwara South.

In its deliberations, participants emphasized that while Kwara South has an inalienable right to contest the governorship in 2027, the overriding priority must be the emergence of a governor for all Kwarans, not one tied to sectional or ethnic interests.

“The people of Kwara South are committed to supporting a pan-Kwara Governor in 2027—one who embodies fairness, inclusiveness, competence, and a unifying spirit. It is also our inalienable right to contest, and our people are hereby encouraged to do so,” the communiqué read.

Other highlights of the communiqué include:

Security: Commendation of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity, with a call for sustained vigilance and intelligence-sharing.

Support for Tinubu: Expression of gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Kwara South indigenes into federal positions, coupled with a unanimous adoption of the President for a second term under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Infrastructure and Development: Acknowledgement of the Governor’s infrastructural projects across the state, with calls for greater investment in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, and industrial hubs. The stakeholders also advocated that Governor AbdulRazaq be considered for higher national responsibilities.

Think-Tank Committee: Inauguration of a 15-member Kwara South Think-Tank to follow up on resolutions and articulate the district’s developmental priorities.

Youth and Women Inclusion: Strong emphasis on involving youth and women in governance, leadership, and decision-making processes.

The communiqué, signed by Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, Mallam Khaleel Bolaji, and Mrs. Foluke Ajide, also commended legislators, conveners, and participants for their commitment to the unity and advancement of the district.

The meeting concluded with a firm message: Kwara South will continue to champion peace, progress, and inclusiveness in Kwara State, warning that divisive ethnic or sectional agendas will not be allowed to derail the collective interest of the people.
