Kwara Workers Issue 14 Days Strike Notice, Demands Payment of N35,000 Wage Award

The Joint Kwara Labour Congress has issued 14 days ultimatum to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration to meet their demands or face industrial dispute.

The Kwara State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress stated this on Tuesday during a press conference in Ilorin.

The Labour in the address jointly signed by Comrade Muritala Saeed (NLC Chairman), Tunde Joseph (TUC Chairman) and Comrade Suleiman (JNC) highlights 10 demands including non payment of N35,000 wage award, non implementation of N30,000 minimum wage for pensioners, lack of willingness to clear outstanding salary arrears of local government workers.

The statement read in part: “The body language of our government does not suit the proper of mending the cracks. The cracks cut across both formal and informal sector of the State economically, psychologically, physically and morally.

“On several occasions both the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress have written government on demands of workers and observed ills in our State. Unfortunately there was no change or attempt to address issues raised in our letters.”
