KWASU VC: A Passionate Appeal to Governor Abdulrazaq

Having congratulated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over his re-election for a second term in office, we equally acknowledged his giant strides towards bridging the wide infrastructural deficit in Kwara North in an effort to improve the sustainable living income and take good governance closer to people in the grassroots.

In the same vein, the group would like to use this medium to commend and appreciate the governor’s efforts on the recent Federal Government approvals for the construction of some major roads across Kwara North through the federal government tax credit scheme. This will indeed when completed, open up the region for massive economic growth and development.

However, the vacant position of the Vice Chancellor at the Kwara State University, Malete is of utmost concern and interest to the good people of Kwara North given their passionate concern to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the great citadel of learning.

Here is a passionate appeal to the Governor, to consider a capable candidate of Kwara North extraction as the next Vice Chancellor of the University; something we possess in abundance. We have qualified individuals in the academia who have proven their mettle in different fields spread across the country and even beyond track records of accomplishments and are ready to replicate the same back home.

It will be recalled that no Kwara Northerner has ever been appointed the Vice Chancellor of the institution since its creation in 2009, it is on this basis that we appeal to the Governor to embrace the spirit of fairness, equity and justice on this important request.

While appreciating the pragmatic leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the years, we also believe in his capacity to ensure a level playing ground for all prospective applicants and a transparent process for the appointment of the new KWASU Vice Chancellor—expectedly from Kwara North and on our own part, we will also ensure qualified candidates from Kwara North, within and outside the state participate in the screening exercise whenever the advert is out.
