Minimum Wage: Expect Harmonized Figures By Weekend -Tripartite Committee

…Holds 12-hour Meeting

… Downplay Governors’ Position

The Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage has hinted on its plan to release harmonized figures by weekend.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma disclosed this on Friday after emerging from the committee meeting in Abuja.

According to him, the Tripartite Committee on the minimum wage is close to agreeing on a new national minimum wage.

He disclosed this after emerging from the meeting of the committee on Friday in Abuja.

The meeting lasted over 12 hours.

Uzodinma said: “We had a very fruitful deliberation and of course you know it is a technical subcommittee of a committee.

“The committee just finished with their various unit meetings and has now proceeded to the plenary, where the committee is expected to harmonise their decisions and hopefully come up with a figure.”

Our Correspondent reports that the Tripartite Committee has promised to forge ahead after Governors said the proposed N60,000 is not sustainable.

Recall that Organized Labour embarked on nationwide strike to reject N60,000 proposed by Organized Private Sector and government teams
