The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Toke Benson, has come under criticism following a viral video allegedly showing her assaulting a man. The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians condemning her actions.
Nigerian actor and comedian Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, reacted strongly to the incident. In a series of tweets, he berated the commissioner for her behavior, describing it as dictatorial and unacceptable for a public servant.

He wrote, “Dear Mrs Toke Benson, who do you think you are that you can’t be recorded?? Ok. Commissioner? And so what?? You even have the temerity to ask ‘who is paying your salary.’ Is it your money? A public servant moving like a Dictator. Saying you will break a citizen’s phone and actually moving to do so?? Outrageous!!!”
Mr. Macaroni also criticized the entitlement displayed by public officials. He further wrote, “And I heard another lady asking ‘do you know who you are talking to.’ Who are you? Who is she? Who are all of you gangan??? My goodness!!! It seems once you hold a political office in Nigeria you become Lord and Master and all Citizens must become your slaves??”
The incident has fueled conversations on social media, with many users expressing disappointment in the commissioner’s conduct and calling for accountability. Critics argue that such behavior undermines the trust citizens place in public officials.
As of the time of this report, neither Toke Benson nor her office has issued an official response to the allegations. The video continues to generate widespread discussion, with demands for improved conduct from those in public office.
