Musa Idris Buko: Impressive Profile of PDP Candidate in Baruten/Kaiama
Musa Idris Buko, an indigene of Ilesha, Baruten, was born on the 16th of May 1984 in Ilorin, Kwara State. His father is Alh. Idris Buko (Abokin Sarki of Ilesha), and his mother; Hajia Bilkis Idris Buko, the first Tenkusuno of Gure.
EDUCATION
Between 1991-1997, Musa Idris Buko attended Fate, LGEA Primary School Ilorin for his primary education where he obtained First School Leaving Certificate. He then proceeded to Government College Keffi, Nassarawa State, for his secondary education between 1997-2003 where he obtained a Senior Secondary Certificate in Education.
He obtained a National Diploma in Fisheries Technology with an Upper Credit at the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, New Bussa, Niger State between 2005-2007.
His the quest for more knowledge prompted Buko to enroll at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 2008, through Direct Entry, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fisheries Degree, Second Class (Upper Division) in 2012.
He started study for a MSc in Fisheries Management and Aquaculture in 2015 at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, which he later deferred to go back to his State and carve a new path for himself.
He obtained a MBA (Master in Business Administration) in Business and Entrepreneurship) at the Kwara State University, between 2020-2022.

WORK LIFE
Musa Idris Buko has always been a go-getter and a success oriented individual.
With a SIWES intern position between 2006-2007 at the Federal Department of Fisheries, Abuja, Buko marked his entry into the Fisheries corporate world. A move that earned him his first management position immediately after SIWES.
Buko became the farm manager of TJ Fisheries Limited, Ilorin between 2007-2008, where he recorded major successes for the business.
Success they say, can be replicated anywhere, especially when the individual involved is capable. Buko embodies the above trait and showed his mettle when he became the Consultant and Fish Hatchery Manager at Dattijo Farms in Ka’oje, Kebbi State between 2008-2013.
Known for his entrepreneurial prowess and willingness to explore, Buko took his exploits to Rivers State, where he worked with Ibiteinye Integrated Farms, Port Harcourt as an Aquaculture Production Officer between 2013-2014.
He returned to his home State in 2015 and took the role of Fisheries Officer II at Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) from October 2015 to February 2020.
Having seen it all, Buko decided it was time to put all of his experience to work and he started his own Fish Farm, in partnership with his Brother.
He has been the CEO/MD of Buko Fisheries Consultancy Services and Farms Ltd, a Company that provides consultancy services, skilled manpower, and inputs in the fisheries and agricultural subsector. He had mentored over 120 students and youths in sustainable self reliance and empowernent.
COMMUNITY RELATED WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
Between 2019 till date, Buko has attended over 30 representative town hall meetings, seminars and workshops on community building.
He has attended all of these in various capacities; as a speaker or facilitator, as a key stakeholder or as a participant.
Notable amongst these are; Countryside Emerging Leaders Fellowship 2.0 and 3.0 respectively as a facilitator, Leader Dynamics for Winning Elections in Nigeria organized by the PDP, Pre-Election Round Table organized by Kwara Tabloid, Popularizing the VAPP Act organized by Hadis Foundation.
He was a participant at the Kwara North Youth Town Hall Meeting organized by the office of the SSA Youth Engagement to the Kwara State Government, under the administration of Governor A.A.
He was at the Kwara North Stakeholders Consultative Forum World Press Release. He participated at the APRM North-Central Done Town Hall Meeting by AUDA/NEPAD.
He was a participant at the BBC Debate for Governorship Candidates organized by the British Broadcasting Commission (Yoruba Service) in 2019.
SOCIAL/POLITICAL LIFE
Buko is currently the Federal House of Representatives Candidate for Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party.
However, that did not mark his journey in the political or leadership space.
Buko is the State Coordinator for Atiku Haske Organization, the Vice President, Baruten Patriotic Agenda.
He is the President, Borgu Nation, Indigenous Ethnic Youth Leaders of Nigeria (IEYLN).
He was the Chairman for Coalition of Kwara North Groups between 2018 – 2022. He was a Member, Panel of Interview SUBEB/TESCOM Teachers Recruitment in Kwara, 2021.
He was the Head of Consortium, Kwara Reality Forum, Deputy Coordinator, African Youth for Development Commission, Kwara State Chapter. Buko served as the Assistant General Secretary, Kwara North Youth Ambassadors for Good Governance and LGA Supervisor (Baruten), Youth Initiative Advocacy for Growth and Advancement (YIAGA-Africa) between 2018 – 2021.
While studying in Danfodio, he was the MSSN Organizing Chairman, and Member of Electoral Committee, Student Union Government of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto between 2011-2012.
Buko is a Public-Policy Analyst and a regular guest on SBS and O’FM Radio Stations in Kwara State. He had also on numerous occasions featured on Sobi FM, Diamond FM and Royal FM, for matters of good governance and community development.
He had co-authored internationally published research article in Fish Breeding and Genetics. He speaks Batonum, Nupe, Hausa and Yoruba languages fluently.
Buko loves to write, read, farm and travel.
