The Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Oyelola Ashiru has expressed optimism that the federal government can generate more revenue by harnessing and exploring opportunities in tourism/cultural development in the country.

Senator Oyelola Ashiru who is representing Kwara South Senatorial district made this assertion on Wednesday while asking question from one of the Ministerial nominees at the Senate Plenary in Abuja.

The Senator noted that Nigeria is yet to potentials in tourism and cultural development for economic gains.

His words: “You are likely to head ministry of Information and Culture when confirmed as a Minister. How do you want to harness the opportunities in tourism to increase Nigeria’s revenue. I am from Kwara South Senatorial district and we have many attractive tourist sites across my constituency. We have the longest Waterfall in West Africa- Owu fall; there is Esie Museum with historical record as first museum in Africa and others.

“I believe tourism is a good way of generation revenue and energize business activities at the grassroots. What are you going to do to change the narrative.”

Senator Ashiru said many advanced nations like Dubai are making huge revenue from tourism.
