Nomination: Olododo Defeats APC in Court
Says “APC in Kwara is a sinking party”
A Federal High Court sitting in ILORIN has dismissed All Progressives Congress (APC) suit challenging nomination of member representing Ilorin East/ Ilorin South Federal Constituency, Hon Ganiyu Saka Cook Olododo as SDP candidate in 2023 general elections.
The Court in a ruling by Justice Sanni on Friday dismissed the suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Olododo, SDP and independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Judge said the Plaintiff (APC) failed to prove that the acceptance of Hon. Olododo as candidate SDP Candidate for Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency was in violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
Recall that the APC had on 7th July, 2022 filed a suit seeking disqualification of the incumbent House of Representatives member of Ilorin East/South from seeking reelection under the SDP.
Meanwhile, Olododo in a statement issued by his campaign spokesperson, Ibrahim Sheriff said “The APC in Kwara is a sinking party, that is in tune with the reality of their own failure come 2023 but trying to thwart the will of the people through back-door. However, the judiciary has secured the people’s mandate by this judgement.
“Although we are confident the APC embarked on a futile journey from onset, today’s victory is for the people and a reflection of what is to come in 2023, when the good people of Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency will reecho their resolve to sustain the quality and responsive representation Olododo has offered in the last three and half years of his sojourn at the green chamber”, the statement added.
