Nothing is Ongoing on Gaa Akanbi-Agbabiaka Road- Residents

The residents of Agbabiaka area in Ilorin South local government of Kwara State have insisted that there’s nothing like ongoing project on Gaa Akanbi-Agbabiaka road contrary to the position of the state government.

A statement signed by the convener of Kwara Youth for Development, Nasir Ganiyu on Tuesday in reaction to the reaction of the state government said, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the Governor, Dr Muideen Akorede failed to provide information regarding the project.

Ganiyu advised the Kwara State Government to debunk residents claim by immediately publishing the name of the contractor, approved fund and amount already released for Gaa-Akanbi- Agbabiaka road in the 2018 fiscal year.

He added that the deplorable state of the road is causing motorists and other residents of over 40 communities using the road unnecessary hardship.

“We can’t continue like this in kwara state. We have a lot of tax payers in this area. There is always gridlock on the road from 7-9am. The SA to the Governor on information strategy, Tunji Moronfoye has a farm around the area and he should advise Governor Ahmed to mobilise contractor to site.

“The ongoing work on this road has been the work of volunteers being encouraged by motorists.”

Ganiyu also maintained the residents’ condemnation of the state government for spreading falsehood.

He threatened that the communities will embark on mass protest against kwara state government, if they fail to mobilise contractor to site within one week.”
