Offa Retreat: Senator Ashiru Calls For Political participation, Not Division – Aide

The attention of Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, the Deputy Senate Leader and the Senator representing Kwara South, has been drawn to a video making the rounds, falsely alleging that he is undermining the votes and interests of the Igbomina people. This claim is not only misleading but also a deliberate attempt to misinterpret his intentions and create unnecessary division within Kwara South.

To set the record straight, the statement referenced in the video was made during the Offa Strategic Retreat, a forum aimed at mobilizing and encouraging the people of Offa to actively participate in politics and governance. *The remarks were specifically tailored to inspire political engagement among the people of Offa.*

Senator Ashiru has always been a champion of inclusivity, fairness, and the collective progress of all groups within Kwara South, including the Igbomina, Ibolo, and Ekiti communities. His track record speaks for itself, with numerous developmental projects, initiatives, and contributions that have directly benefited the Igbomina people. However, he has never denied the fact that is progenitors are migrant from Ajase-Ipo in Igbomina land.

The Senator remains deeply committed to fostering unity and collaboration among all ethnic groups in Kwara South both indigene and non- indigene and the State at large. He firmly believes that only through solidarity can the region achieve sustainable development. Any insinuation suggesting that Senator Ashiru is undermining the Igbomina people, as usual is politically motivated and entirely untrue.

We urge the public to disregard the misrepresentation in the circulating video and instead focus on Senator Ashiru’s unwavering dedication to the progress and well-being of every constituent in Kwara South.

Signed,
Olaitan Adeyanju
Legislative Aide on Media & Community Relations to Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru
