Oke-Onigbin Road Completed, Forum Defends Segun Adebayo

‎The Progressive Youth Forum (PYF), operating under the Afenifere umbrella, has strongly refuted recent reports alleging that the Oke-Onigbin Road project handled by TAHL Engineering Limited, owned by Mr. Cornelius Adebayo, remains incomplete.

‎In a statement signed by Comrade Funsho Dare, an Afenifere chieftain, the Forum described the publication credited to Tejumola Olusegun Orilemola, Convener of the Society for Sustainable Governance (SSG), as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

‎According to the group, the timing of the allegation—surfacing just days after the funeral of the late elder statesman Pa Cornelius Adebayo—is both insensitive and suspicious.

‎ “It is curious that such a baseless claim would emerge immediately after the burial of a revered leader who dedicated his life to public service. Turning a solemn occasion into an avenue for political controversy is both unfair and disrespectful,” the statement read.

‎The Forum clarified that the Oke-Onigbin Road was executed through direct labour and has been fully completed, contrary to the false narrative of abandonment. It emphasized that TAHL Engineering Limited was never formally awarded any contract for the project.

‎ “For any project to qualify as a contract, due process must be followed— including public advertisement, bidding, issuance of an award letter, and formal acceptance. None of these occurred in this case. The road project was a direct labour initiative and has long been completed,” the Forum explained.

‎The group also faulted the Society for Sustainable Governance (SSG) for failing to verify its claims with the Kwara State Ministry of Works, describing the publication as a deliberate attempt to sow discord between the Adebayo family and the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration.

‎ “At a time when Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is delivering transformational projects across the state, responsible citizens should be supporting progress, not spreading misinformation to create division,” the statement added.

‎The Forum further condemned what it called the “needless drama” exhibited by a cleric during Pa Adebayo’s funeral, noting that the event should have been a moment of tribute and reflection, not political grandstanding.

‎Reaffirming the loyalty of Mr. Cornelius Adebayo and Hon. Oloruntoyosi Thomas to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Forum restated their unwavering commitment to the success of the AbdulRazaq-led administration.

‎The statement concluded with an expression of gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Deputy Senate Leader Architect Ashiru, Senator Sadiq Umar, and Rt. Hon. Danladi Yakubu-Salisu, among other dignitaries, for their steadfast leadership and contributions to Kwara’s development.

‎ “Long live the Government of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq! Long live Kwara State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the Forum declared.
