Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe on Monday met the state government and Federal Ministry of Health delegation to discuss take off plan of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Budo Egba, Kwara State,
A delegation of Kwara State Government comprising of Commissioner for Health, Hon. Razak Raji, Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof. David Dumade representing the Kwara State Government, the Chief Medical Director (C.M.D) University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof. Yusuf Da Silva and Professor Issa Baba of Department of Behavioral Science University of Ilorin from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital) attended the maiden meeting between Kwara State Government and the Federal Ministry of Health.
The delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health was led by Dr Adebimpe Adebiyi, the Director of Hospital Services. The meeting which was declared open by the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Sen. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora was convened to discuss the needed steps to ensure smooth and earnest commencement of medical activities at the facility. It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the institution after the legislative efforts of Sen. Oloriegbe who sponsored a bill to that effect.
The key resolutions at the meeting that will facilitate the take-off of the Institution include that the agreement by the State Government to renovate the existing structure of Comprehensive Health Center Budo-Egba to serve as the starting facility for the Institution to be implemented forthwith. It was also agreed that the agreement for the development of M.O.U between the State Government and Federal Government for the hand-over of the site for the Institution be concluded soonest.
It was also discussed that the appointment of an acting Medical Director and other relevant and necessary staff would be done by the Federal Ministry of Health/Federal Government to enable effective commencement of activities at the Hospital whilst the Federal Ministry of Health would also facilitate the process of obtaining take-off grant for the Institution as well as opening a budget vote line for it in the 2022 budget.
The State Government and host community will however provide the necessary enabling environment for smooth take-off and continuous operations of the Institution.
Oloriegbe in his remarks on behalf of the people of Kwara Central Senatorial District thanks President Muhammadu Buhari, Honorable Minister of Health (Dr Osagie E. Ehanire), Honorable Minister of State for Health (Dr Senator. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora), the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Hospital Services and other staff of Federal Ministry of Health, the Governor of Kwara State, Commissioner of Health Kwara State and other staff of Kwara State Ministry of Health, the Chief Medical Director of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and its staff for their cooperation and support so far on the strategic Institution in his constituency.
