Osun Speakership: The Rising Profile of Egbedun

Politics is a game of interest! The interest should always align with that of majority of the populace. It’s therefore not surprising that Prince Adewale Olumide Egbedun has continued to soar higher in Osun State political arena due to his people-focused approach of playing politics. His main goal of joining politics is to add value and spread democratic dividends across the wards in Odo-Otin State Constituency as member of Osun State House of Assembly.
In his words: “When I first came into politics, my intention was simply to serve the people. Just service. Every good thing that has come my way in politics today, every elevation I have received, is God showing me that He blesses those whose plans align with His.”
Interestingly, Hon Adewale Egbedun, the member-elect for Odo-Otin State Constituency is not a novice in the State political terrain. He is a committed, dedicated and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State. He contributed to PDP’s victory in his local government area during the 2018 and 2022 governorship elections. He remains committed to Osun PDP despite the setback experienced in 2018. He worked assiduously to ensure victory of all PDP candidates during the 2023 general elections.
Apart from that, Egbedun earned good academic credentials from reputable institutions in Nigeria and abroad.
The Osun Speaker hopeful is also a grassroots politician with native intelligence of managing different interests. The political sagacity of Hon Adewale Egbedun helped him secure PDP to contest for the House of Assembly in 2019 and 2023.
He is a vibrant, articulate, agile, useful and responsible youth. Prince Egbedun is under 40 and possesses the leadership charisma of an adult. His emotional intelligence has endeared him to Party leaders including Governor Ademola Adeleke and other stakeholders beyond party lines. He is a dependable and reliable man with good character.
Egbedun is young but he has amassed laudable experience by managing companies creating employment for many people. He is a key player in the Agribusiness sector in the country.
Prince Egbedun also possesses skills to network and manage people to achieve common goals. This has positioned him as a rallying point for other Members-elect because Egbedun’s speakership will mean a win-win deal for ALL. It will favor the current leadership in the state under Governor Adeleke, people, party, members and other stakeholders.

Hon Adewale Egbedun who is aspiring to lead the 8th Osun State House of Assembly as Speaker has designed a robust agenda- SMOOTH Legislative Agenda.

M – Members’ capacity building and welfarism
O – Open legislature with digitalization of the House and possibly transmission of plenary hearing
O – Open Osun for development through introduction of laws and reviewing existing laws to make the state business friendly
T – Thoroughness and meticulous in carrying out legislative activities
H- Harmonious – Working together with other arms of government to improve well being of the citizenry.
It’s crystal clear that Hon Adewale Egbedun is ready for leadership. The brilliant chap from reputable royal lineage ticked the three Cs of leadership; Competence, Capacity and Character. All these qualities would help him guide the Assembly in Lawmaking, debating and passing legislation to propel Osun State development. He will also step up legislative oversight to ensure the State and its people get value for money by vetting and monitoring the implementation of projects and policies as defined in the annual budget.
