PDP Endorsement: Olawepo is a Confused Politician – Orisun Igbomina President

The  -President General of Orisun Igbomina, Chief Gbenga Awoyale has criticized a former Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for endorsing a candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state.

Awoyale, who described Gbenga-Olawepo as a confused politician says: “Olawepo, a former Governorship candidate who fled the state after his 2007 defeat, just to return 16years after is not in tune with the political realities in Kwara South and the state at large, he thinks our people are still in the dark age of political deception when people like him thrived in politics.

“This is same man, during his visit to Gov. AbdulRazaq, perhaps when he was anticipatory of some sort of political patronage was widely reported to have said “no matter the level of disagreement among the stakeholders, Kwara must not be allowed to go back to slavery and socio-political emasculation that had arrested the progress of the state for many years.”

“It is however unfortunate, that he is the one endorsing elements of the same set of people he claimed “enslaved our people and stunted the growth of Kwara and Kwarans.

“While we understand that Olawepo, after several years of denouncing his Kwara citizenship to claim his paternal root to Kebbi state, is back in Kwara to seek some political gains which is not forthcoming. We advise him to remain honorable and not make any attempt to drag Kwara backward or obstruct the wheel of progress the state is experiencing under Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“I want to categorically state that although Olawepo claimed he consulted with the 11 wards in Irepodun Local Government before arriving at his jaundiced, self serving resolution, he did not consult anyone from Arandun ward and Irepodun remain solidly behind Gov. AbdulRazaq led APC.

“I also wish to clarify that the whole of Irepodun has enjoined dividend of democracy under AbdulRazaq and Arch. Lola Ashiru and we believe in their continuity for another four years, regardless of parochial interest of people like Olawepo”, the statement added.
