In the next 28 days, the people of Kwara Central Senatorial district comprising Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West local government areas will go to their respective polling units to elect a Senator that will represent them in the 10th Senate. The Presidential and National Assembly elections, being the first election in the most anticipated election year in Nigeria, due to the strategic role of National Assembly members and President towards nation building. It’s also important to note that people (the electorates) will make choices. These choices will shape their expectations in the next four years.

In making the choice in Kwara Central, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has offered the people a calm, humble, proactive, energetic, responsive and responsible personality as Flagbearer. The candidate is Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate and a consistent cum cheerful giver. Saliu Mustapha needs no introduction in every household across the length and breath of the Senatorial district.

The Ilorin East born Politician has a loveable personality and has already endeared himself to the people with his candour and kindness. It will not be an exaggeration to say he has at least a commitment advocate within every household.

No wonder, Saliu Mustapha is enjoying wide acceptability rating ahead of the February 25, 2023 election. This has shown in the warm reception accorded his campaign train across the 52 wards in Kwara Central.

However, the APC Senatorial Candidate in order to give his Constituents what to expect, when elected, has unveiled legislative agenda which will propel the doing it differently approach in continuation of the big impact drive.

Mustapha’s agenda, based on four cardinal points, include, advocating for laws and reforms, collaborating with the Kwara State Government and reducing poverty through expanded empowerment initiatives.

1. Initiating and advocating for laws and reforms that seek to improve the well-being, safety, and welfare of my constituents

2. Collaborating with the Kwara State Government, my legislative colleagues, the traditional and religious leadership, and pressure groups such as yours to influence and lobby for the rapid development of communities within my constituency.

3. Reduce poverty through expanded empowerment initiatives and increased access to employment as well as vocational and entrepreneurial trainings.

4. Developing the human capital assets of our communities through deliberate policies and initiatives that improve our people’s well-being.

According to him, all of these things and more are on my agenda, not because they are politically expedient, but because I am determined to help improve the lot of my people.

Saliu Mustapha seems to align with former President of United States, Barack Obama that says: “If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.”

Therefore, electing the Turaki of Ilorin as a Senator will give leverage to do more for the people by using legislation to address challenges facing Kwara Central. He understands the people would initiate bills/motions to better the lots of his constituents and facilitate projects/programmes to accelerate development of the Senatorial district.

Recall that Saliu Mustapha, inline with his solution driven approach to politics embarked on grading of over 20 rural roads, drilling of boreholes in needy communities and providing support to address electricity supply challenge in some areas, just to improve wellbeing of the citizenry.

No gain saying, electing Mallam Saliu Mustapha as the Senator to represent Kwara Central Senatorial district in the 10th Senate would open up new level of development and uplift the district via quality, purposeful, effective and efficient representation.
