Saraki Remains My Leader, Says Yahaya Seriki
…Seeks ASKOMP Support Ahead of AbdulRazaq’s Reelection Campaign
A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Amb Yahaya Seriki on Saturday said the immediate past Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki remains his leader, irrespective of political difference.
Amb Yahaya Seriki disclosed this while featuring on Media Parley organised by Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) at his residence in Ilorin.
His words: “I have enormous respect for Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki of blessed memory. He tried for Kwara politics, may Allah continue to rest his soul. Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki remains my leader too but we belong to different political ideologies. We have mutual respect for each other. Politics should not be do or die.”
The Business Mogul and Miner described himself as one of the few privileged ones who made at very young age.
According to him, I have been in the mining industry in this country for close to 3 decades. I have nothing to hide. It baffles me when people go around tarnishing the image of young people striving on their own. It is appalling.
“I join politics for service not to make money, I am already a rich man. I give glory to God Almighty. My political sojourn has being both favourable and otherwise too. I joined kwara Politics in 2007. I featured on the ballot in 2011 and 2015. I give the glory to Almighty Allah. This is a very rich experience for a young man like me. I have not had the opportunity to emerge in a general elections but I am very optimistic that my time will come. I invested heavily in APC and people expect that I will be leaving the party. I am not desperate, I am only interested in making life better for the people of my State.” He explained.
Yahaya Seriki who aspired for APC Senatorial ticket in Kwara Central this year, said he has decided to stay with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq government.
The APC Stalwart said the Governor is setting Kwara up for a prosperous future by spreading development across the state.
” Abdulrazaq is doing wonderfully well in education sector. Another area that won my heart over is how the Governor is breeding young people into leadership position. This is very important because for a long time we have been clamouring for change of faces and bringing of fresh ideas to doing things. I am always happy on how Abdulrazaq is making sons and daughters of nobody becoming somebody.
“This is campaign time. We will run a very peaceful campaign. Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has made the work so easy with his style of leadership. He is so focused on Kwara development and his works will speak for him to emerge for the second time to lead Kwara to greatness.”
Yahaya Seriki therefore appealed to ASKOMP and other media outfits to support the Governor to continue his good works.
Responding, ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek applauded Amb Yahaya Seriki for his readiness to help young people regardless of their political affiliation.
Salihu Shola Taofeek described the engagement as more of a family meeting because of his approach and simplicity.
He therefore urged him to continue to be good example to young people and pray that he will live long for Kwara to benefit more from his wealth of experience and philanthropism.
The Chairman however stated that ASKOMP as a body of Professional Online Journalists will continue to uphold ethics of journalism as we approach 2023 general elections and beyond
