Senator Ashiru Built House For Homeless Widow In Offa

The Senator representing Kwara South district, Arch. Oyelola Ashiru today presented keys of newly constructed two bedroom apartment to a homeless widow in Offa.

Senator Ashiru decided to build new apartment for Alhaja Aiysatul Raji, a widow of many years after some youths narrated her pathetic story to him.

Alhaja Aiysatul Raji’s husband passed away in the inferno that made her homeless. In our clime, a widow without a child can easily be called many unprintable names, hers is not an exception.

For many years as a widow, she wakes up from the dilapidated building- the remains of the building that was raged with fire, she rest her head on the other side that is with roof. She re-arranged her firewood and beckons on prospective customers for her to fend for living, many a times there might be no one to call, the ones that call might buy on credit.

According to Alhaja, her firewood business capital was gotten through the President Mohammadu Buhari stipends for the widow in Offa Local Government, since then she has been in the business and of course the business is the main source of her living.

Senator Oyelola Ashiru, a renowned architect to reckon with reportedly scribbled a design of 2 bedroom apartment, with the intent of creating accommodation and neighbourliness for her.

The house is built on water-logged area where the soil is not too good, the architectural design accommodates the whole work to get the widow a standard and a befitting house. On completion, the house is well furnished tastefully with modern amenities, with provision of other livelihood for the widow.

The kindhearted Senator commissioned the house on Wednesday, December 1, 2019.

The dignitaries including Chief Imam Of Offa, Imam Muhideen Hussein, Imam Arojo, the APC Offa Local Government Chairman, and the Women Leader, all the ward Chairmen and the women leaders, the elders and residents of Balogun compound hailed Senator Ashiru for showing compassion on the widow.
