The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial district, Arch Oyelola Ashiru has facilitated training and empowerment program for out of school youth from seven local government areas in the district.
The first phase of the training and empowerment program which lasted for three days in Omuaran, Irepodun Local Government, had participants drawn from Isin, Oke-Ero, Ekiti and Irepodun Local Government.
The Senator, through his Legislative Aide, Hon. Benjamin Dairo, described the empowerment program as a yearly routine in pursuit of engaging the out of school youths of Kwara South.
Speaking on the mode of participants selection, Hon, Benjamin added that, the participants were nominated by political leaders, traditional leaders, and other notable figures from each ward across the Senatorial District.
’’The participants were exposed to different business ideas and how to manage small businesses. The experts also enlightened the participants on benefit of thrifts and cooperative in pursuant of vocational businesses”. He added.
The last day of the training, which was attended by delegation of Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulrasheed Adeoti, had each participant given tool as a start up for vocational trainings previously learned, also to enhance the ease of purchasing vocational tools for skilled individuals.
The tools distributed includes, Freezer, grinding machine, sewing machine, vulcanizing machine, hair dryer and washing machine.
The beneficiaries, speaking through Felicia Adeoti, from Obo-Ile, noted that the tool given to her will enable her to start a trade to earn a living for the family. She showered encomium on the senator for the thoughtful program targeted for out of school individual.
Also, the APC Irepodun Local Government Chairman, Hon, Yakub Abdulazeez Tinuola, appraised the Senator for the timeliness of this project and further commended him for involving the party critical stakeholders in the participants selection.
Accordingly, the second phase of the empowerment projects will hold next week for Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun Local Government areas.
