Senator Ashiru Meets Constituents, Harps on Youth Development, Education
The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Oyelola Ashiru on Sunday met youths and young adults at the senatorial office in Ajase-Ipo as part of his efforts to deepen participatory governance.
The interactive meeting which had in attendance youths, political associations, political forums, student union representatives in their numbers, All Progressive Youths Forum, Igbomina Students Union, National Association of Kwara State Students, Cashew Farmers Association, amongst other formidable groups created platform to discuss one after another about nagging issues and foster development within the senatorial district.
The Isin Local Government youth representatives were filled with gratitude, thanking the senator for coming to an aid of a progressive son of the local government to pay for his law school tuition fee, in the same light, the Senator was also appreciated for the empowerment of widows in Local Government. There was also agitation for the senator to do more for the vulnerable and the indigents in the local government.
The students union representatives highlighted the need for scholarship and education development program, that will be beneficial to Kwara South students, both at home and in diaspora as this will aid the challenge of students in their respective campuses.
The Kwara South All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) who trooped to the meeting in their large numbers thank the Senator for his support and for being a listening legislator. The APYF group also pinpointed areas that needs urgent federal attentions in the district and charged the lawmaker to act fast on it.
In their presentation, the Kwara South cashew farmers association, seeks for partnership with the Senator, to facilitate federal loans and also render assistance in facilitating a bill that will see to the establishment of Cashew Research Institute domicile in Kwara South.
In his response, Senator Ashiru appreciates each groups, he thanked the youths for coming together and agitating for a swift development of the Senatorial District.
“I am committed to youth development even before I assumed this ordained position, my perception about people has not changed, my empathy and love for the people still remain unshaken, come what may, nothing can change the love of youths and the desire for me to develop youths in my Senatorial District to an enviable one.
“ I have graphics of what is happening in educational sector, agricultural sector, health sector, and in every other sector. Elders might be too deep scheming about the next political dispensation, but what made me stand out is my commitment to youth development.
“I want to assure you all that every complaint here will be attended to, and all the request made will be looked into and the urgent request will be considered”.
Speaking about the senatorial office, the Senator said the arrangement at the office is made for the progressive people to have political meetings, seminars, and where one can visit when there is need to quench a political thirst through the modern political library that will be set up.
