Sit-at-home: Another IPOB Leader Arrested
Just two days to 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria, the National Bureau of Investigation in Finland has arrested spokesperson of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa.
Simon Ekpa was arrested in his apartment on Thursday in Finland after declaring Sit-at-home in South East ahead of February 25 Presidential election.
Recall that Simon Ekpa, a local Lahti city councillor representing the National Coalition Party, had called on millions of people to boycott upcoming Nigerian general elections from February 23 to 28.
Ekpa is the spokesperson of IPOB, a separatist movement agitating for the secession of Biafra in southeastern Nigeria.
Lahti’s Etelä-Suomen Sanomat newspaper reports that Ekpa “doesn’t hide the fact that he is participating in the £limination of government officials.” He even leads the operation and acquires weapons”.
The FG asked Finland to clamp down on Ekpa’s activities, fearing that they could derail the peaceful conduct of 2023 general elections.
