Thomas Adewumi University Holds 1st Convocation Nov 26, Graduands Get ICT Certifications

Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese in Kwara State will on Tuesday, November 26 hold first convocation ceremony.

The Vice Chancellor of the Institution , Prof Francisca Oladipo disclosed this on Friday during Convocation Press Briefing in Oko-Irese.

According to her, 26 graduands from 2 Faculties and 9 academic programmes. 6 bagged First Class Honours, 14 will graduate with Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 4 with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) and 1 with a Third Class.

Prof Oladipo added that graduates also earned minimum of two International ICT Certifications in order to make them compete in the transformation digital economy.

Her words: “It is with immense delight that I welcome you all to Nigeria’s leading light in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Innovation ecosystem, Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese (TAU). Your presence here today demonstrates your commitment to keeping the public informed about significant milestones in the development of education and human capacity in Nigeria and the world at large.

“I am delighted to inform you that all our graduands have met the rigorous academic standards set by the university, which is: that in addition to excelling in their chosen fields of study, they must acquire a minimum of two International ICT Certifications offered by Google, IBM, Coursera, and other Global Partner for Sustainable Development, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.”

She said the private varsity built on legacy of about three decades’ experience in nurturing great minds through the Thomas Adewumi International College (established in 1997 by Dr Thomas Adewumi) is now offering 27 academic programmes with 100% FULL accreditation by the National Universities Commision.

She said first set of Nursing Students for the Council’s qualifying examinations achieved a 100% pass rate.

FactualTimes reports that a 240-capacity locally engineered students Hall of Residence will be commissioned after the convocation.
