Use your talents and skills to uplift your communities, Gombe Governor Urges Youths
Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has urged youths to use their talents and skills to promote community development.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya made this call in his message to mark International Youth Day 2025.
The Governor via a statement issued on Tuesday by his Spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli reiterated his administration’s commitment to empowering young people and positioning them at the heart of the state’s development agenda.
He said through access to education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship support and inclusive governance, his government is creating an environment where young people are not only empowered but trusted and celebrated.
Governor Inuwa urged the youth to remain focused, responsible and visionary, using their talents and opportunities to uplift their communities and serve as good ambassadors of Gombe State.
“As we celebrate International Youth Day, I call on all young people in Gombe to rise to the occasion. Let us continue working together to turn challenges into opportunities, ideas into impact and dreams into lasting change,” the Governor said.
Reflecting on this year’s International Youth Day theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that it resonates deeply with the youth-focused policies and programmes of his government, which are designed to empower the youth to drive progress at the grassroots level while contributing meaningfully to national and global goals.
He said Gombe State is not only youth-friendly in policy but also in practice, with a significant number of young people appointed to key, sensitive and strategic positions across the government.
“Our administration believes in the energy, innovation and leadership potential of our youths. That’s why we have entrusted many of them with high-level responsibilities to be part of the solution, not just the conversation,” he stated.
In the education sector, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to scholarship reform, aimed at ensuring timely, fair and sustainable disbursement of funds to support students in tertiary institutions.
On digital empowerment, Governor Inuwa Yahaya cited ongoing programmes such as the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI), through which a fully equipped digital skills acquisition centre has been established and funded by the government with over 2,000 youths trained and exposed to employment opportunities in the tech and outsourcing sectors.
“Our youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the torchbearers of today, driving innovation, shaping discourse and building communities,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya remarked.
