Amosun, Yayi Cold War: APC NEC Intervenes
The National Executive Committee of APC today waded into the lingering crisis of Ogun State Chapter of APC following the visit of a delegation of APC party officials and others from Ogun State to the National Secretariat in Abuja.
The 20-Man delegation from Ogun State that was led by Hon. Kunle Adeshina, the APC Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman also included Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, former Speaker of OGHA, Hon. Farouk Akintunde,State Ex Officio, Hon. Kunle ,the state financial Secretary of APC, Alhaji Muftau Ajibola, former SUBEC chairman, Dr. Odemuyiwa, the Secretary of Ogun East Senatorial District of APC, the APC LGA chairmen of Odeda,Ijebu Ode, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ado Odo Ota, Ipokia and other PDP decampees to APC.
A source at the meeting revealed that Hon Adesina had briefed of the attempts to exclude some party officials rumoured to be in support of a particular aspirant that the state governor is against from functioning through purported removal or orders not to allow the supported of the aspirants or those loyal to chief Olusegun Osoba to attend ward meetings. The height of the impunity and intolerance was the last congress to elect national delegates for the non elective National Convention during which names were merely written while some statutory delegates were removed. He called on the NEC to wade in as well as allow for new members from PDP to be registered.
Engineer Segun Oni, the National Vice Chairman APC, (South) who recieved the delegation on the directive of the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, in company of Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Victor Giaelom and National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Bolaji Abdullahi commended the delegation for adopting the peaceful approach by coming to the NEC for resolution.
He promised that the NEC will meet with the state Governor as well as Chief Osoba and thereafter summon a meeting of the two sides at a neutral ground to resolve the issues raised adding that agenda of the proposed meeting from issues raised will include the build up to 2019, the need to integrate PDP decampees and the sanctity of the party’s constitution in all matters.
“If you are a cleaner in APC, nobody can remove you except after following the laid down procedure in the constitution. There is no way anyone can be remove from office in APC except through due process” he stated’
He thereafter led a delegation to brief the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Party Alhaji Mai Mala Buni along with other members of the National Executive Committee.
