Defamation: Lade’s Appeal Won’t Distract Us, NUPEKOTV Publisher

The Publisher of NUPEKOTV , Tauheed Baruwa Muhammed said the appeal filed at Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin by Kwara State Government on behalf of the State Commissioner for Water Resources, Yunusa Usman Lade would not distract the organisation from calling for accountability.

Mohammed in a statement issued on Thursday said he is ready to defend himself.

Recall that a State High Court few months ago dismissed the defamation suit filed by the Commissioner on  NupekoTV’s publication on rehabilitation of Lafiagi Water works.

He writes: “We are not surprised by the development. For us, this is part of the process and we are prepared because we believe in the work we do and the principles we stand for. Nobody should expect us to be intimidated or discouraged from carrying out our responsibilities as a media organisation.

“We are looking at the situation..while allowing the process to unfold. We will continue to stand firm, remain focused on our work and let the law take its course. This will not distract us from our commitment to journalism and our responsibility to the public.”
